I adore Symmetra.
I will go through phases of maining her, no matter what. There is just nobody else like her.
Yeah, my win percentage takes a battering worse than a diaphragm in Amsterdam. Yet the wins I do get, are that much sweeter.
It’s like winning a gunfight using nothing but Nerf pistols.
So the new patch (live on PTR) has made me blush and cross my legs.
Check out her new ability set:
Generates a large energy barrier in front of Symmetra that blocks enemy fire as it travels forward.
Basically, this is a Reinhardt in your back pocket. Though unlike Reinhardt, you have turrets checking Sombra behind you, nice.
-Shield Generator (New Ultimate)
Symmetra’s Ultimate ability now offers a choice between her Teleporter and a new option: Shield Generator.
Shield Generator places a device that grants additional shields to any ally within the its effective radius, regardless of barriers, walls, or obstacles between heroes and the Shield Generator.
Wow, wow, wow; imagine dropping this bad boy on the point. We’ll take that, thank you very much.
-Photon Projector (Primary Fire)
Range has been increased from 5 meters to 7 meters.
The current gun is just pants, I resort to melee too often. This is good.
Number of turrets that can be carried has been increased from 3 turrets to 6 turrets.
Cooldown has been reduced from 12 seconds to 10 seconds.
Turrets, everywhhhhaaaaarrrrr! Mwuhahahaha.
Decreased health from 200 to 50
Increased shields from 0 to 350
This basically means it can take twice the punishment and regenerates up to 350. Much needed, since the enemy team gets told when you use this.
Replaced with the new Photon Barrier ability.
What was even the point in this? 25 shield points couldn’t block the premature ejaculation of a Dormouse.
Here’s some PTR footage, posted by Youtube user Talon King
What this all means for the meta, no one can be sure.
Though, right now I think it might remove Reinhardt as a “must pick”, which is sad because I like the old guy.
Sombra has made him slightly less viable and now we have Symmetra as an alternative.
Plus, if played right, she can counter Sombra.
I am also hoping this patch reins in the DPS (Damage Per Second) characters because they are walking over us support players right now.
